What are the advantages of laser dentistry?

Surgical lasers are far more precise that traditional many dental treatments. This means our dental team can conserve more bone and tooth tissue during treatment.

For this reason, lasers help to minimize the bleeding and swelling that often result from surgical procedures. This results in less discomfort than there would  be with traditional methods.

Because laser dentistry is more comfortable, it can eliminate the need for local anesthetic, which in turn will reduce the duration of your appointment.

And since local anesthetic is not required, we can often perform procedures that once required multiple appointments together during a single appointment.

Laser dentistry is used for gum reshaping, and to harden bonding materials used in fillings. Lasers can also be used in periodontal care to remove bacteria from periodontal pockets.

How do dental lasers work?

Dental lasers emit a targeted light that delivers quick pulses of heat energy to the area being treated. Depending on the type of tissue being treated, the wavelengths used will vary.
